Nebraskan Challenges Commissioners to Drink Fracking Wastewater, Video Goes Viral

James Osborn Fracking Hearing Nebraska

A Nebraska man shut down fracking supporters with a single question this week:.

At a meeting of the Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, James Osborn poured three cups of fracking wastewater and asked the commissioners, “Would you drink it?” Video footage of the event, taken by Bold Nebraska, subsequently went viral.

Watch how the commissioners responded:

The commission was hearing public comment on a Terex Energy Corp. application to inject up to 10,000 gallons per day of wastewater from fracking in Colorado and Wyoming into an old oil well on a ranch in Sioux County, in the northwest corner of Nebraska. Osborn is concerned about Nebraska’s precious water supply, stating “Everything in Nebraska runs on water. Period.”

The virality of this video illustrates the disgust and outrage the majority of Americans feel in regard to fracking, and confirms that Americans are fed up with the lies and obfuscation of the energy industry. There’s an implied hypocrisy, as pointed out by Osborn — ”You told me this morning when I was in here … that you would drink this water, so would you drink it?”

Osborn’s story is only one of many. You’ll be stunned to hear the stories we have to share with you in our documentary — tap water lighting on fire, leaking wastewater containers, and much more.
